The training of our personnel is the main priority of our Service. For this reason, all volunteers, before undertaking operational duties, will initially undergo induction training by our station officers or crew leaders. They will them take place in our annual training cycle which is conducted every 2nd Sunday of every month from November until the end of April. Training is both theoretical as well as practical covering the whole range of activities undertaken by the V.F.F.R.E. and/or potential incidences that our volunteers might face whilst undertaking their operational duties.
Furthermore, the VFFRE undergoes 21 hours of compulsory training with the Hellenic Fire Service each year. It attends specialized Fire and Rescue related seminars and organizes training events with external organizations like the National Ambulance Service. The Red Cross, radio-amateurs, overseas training officials and certified local training organizations.
Finally, the VFFRE takes part in mutual training exercises with neighbouring volunteer organizations, (namely Rodopolis, Ag. Stefanos, Varympompi and EDASA)most commonly with those that are members of the under-constitution Pan-Hellenic Federation of Volunteer Forest Firefighting and Forest fire Protection organizations whereby VFFRE is a founding member.
